What is Free Fall Writing?

Many years ago I learned of a writing exercise to help get the creative juices flowing. I learned it as Free Fall Writing, however I have heard it referred to other names (none of which come to mind at the moment).

Free Fall Writing is the act of writing, without concern for grammar, spelling, logical flow, or specific content. It is to write for the sake of writing, and to write what ever comes to mind, with minimal (essentially no) pausing. Usually there is a time given, about 20 minutes, but can be different depending on the situation. Free Fall Writing can be in a group or alone. Sometime suggestions, are given (especially in groups) to help break any writer's block.

When I first learned about Free Fall Writing, it was presented without the option of prompts / suggestions. We were instructed to write what ever came to mind. If nothing came to mind, well then write "nothing comes to mind, the page is white" and go from there, start describing something in the room.

This blog is intended to help me do regular Free Fall Writing.
I have found it cathartic, and sometimes inspirational.
The serial Joe Trebble was a challenge I gave to myself to see if I could write a story in short Free Fall Writing sessions (the chapters are prompts, and the only prep I do is refreshing my self on the last chapter or two for some level of plot continuity).
